My Aboriginal Heritage - Part 2 - Resources

My research list

Yaama. Finding Mary Ann's parents was a different story all together. A lot of hours searching fruitlessly.

I have never found out anything about Margaret. Noone seems to have ever heard of her.

Mary Ann's father was slightly easier. In his early years he was a squatter, a stockman, he was then the PoundKeeper at Walgett in 1868 and then later a Magistrate in the Colony. He was born in Sydney, Australia and he was born of British ancestry. I have a story about him too, stay tuned!

Mary Ann was consistently listed as being born in Walgett, except on one document where the information was provided by her husband and he wrote Moree which is fairly close by.

Below is a list of all of the places that I have contacted and searched for information. If you have indigenous history, particularly in the Hunter or further up around Walgett and Moree, some of the information below might be useful for you.

As you can see by the dates, I have hit a brick wall. I don't know where else to look or who else to ask. This leads to part 3 - DNA relatives. Yaluu.
