Books I Own - Benevolence
I looked everywhere for this book and finally my daughter ordered it for me.
Benevolence written by Julie Janson is a fictional story built on a historical characters and events that follows the life of a young Aboriginal girl, born into Australia in the early days of colonialism, and set in the Hawkesbury.

It explores a complex path caught between two worlds, and of the violence and “benevolence” of the colonial powers. It is a story of difficult choices and doing what you have to do to survive.
A really good read and especially meaningful to anyone with Aboriginal ancestry. An important glimpse of colonisation from an Aboriginal perspective. This one will stay in my collection.
Highly recommended.
