Books I own - Convicts
I have the following books that relate directly to convict history and biographies, ships and sentences etc.
“1788” by Don Chapman (1981) - This is quite an old book which has short biographies of each of the first fleet convicts and seamen. I originally bought for the biographies on my First Fleeter's, John Small and Mary Parker, but it has come in handy for doing lookups for other people as well. Happy to look up anything if you need it.
“The Second Fleet: Britain’s Grim Convict Armada of 1790.” By Michael Flynn (1993).
This book has quite good biographies of Second Fleet convicts and seamen. I have several 2nd Fleet convicts in this book (see my convict post), and have also used it for lookups for others. Happy to look up anything you need.
“The first 25 years of convict transportation to New South Wales” by Lesley Uebel
A book with full list of all NSW convicts, ship name and sentence. I have found some information in here which is missing from some of the online convict sites. It has been quite useful for looking up specific names. Happy to do lookups.
